Over thirty years since its original Broadway debut, Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical is back! And the 1960s-inspired coifs are wavier and bigger than ever. "When you think of hippies you think of kindness and peace. Roundness is associated with that, which is why we chose to incorporate curls," says Amy Farid, the lead Bumble and bumble hairstylist for the show, who adds, "It really wouldn't work if everyone had an angular cabaret bob, you know?"

To give actresses their enviable tousled tresses, Farid employs products from Bumble and bumble's Curl Conscious line. After applying the Holding Foam to wet hair ("it has a wavy, beachy texture"), Farid combs strands with a leave-in conditioner and finishes with the Defining Crème. After blow-drying and scrunching strands simultaneously, Farid then uses a one-inch curling iron to randomly wrap sections for a "more natural-looking and less Shirley Temple" kind of curl.

Want to take this stage look off Broadway? If you have more time on your hands (or an aversion to hot tools) mist a beach spray on damp hair and pull strands into a bun. "Your hair gets some really cool texture while you sleep and roll around in bed," says Farid. And don't be shy about adding some braids too, however, "make sure you do loose braids instead of tight ones or else you'll get some frizz," says Farid. "Whether they're three-piece braids, rope braids, or both, adding twists around the head will give more texture."
