Tresses at Monique Lhuillier's spring 2009 show were uncomplicated yet stylish. "The hardest thing about this hairstyle wasn't actually creating it," says Eugene Souleiman, lead hairstylist, about the mussed up coif. "It was coming up with something that worked with the collection. The clothes flow and move, and I thought the hair needed to feel organic."
The result? "The look is very light and very dryas if at one point it was styled but the girl's gone into this tempestuous environment," says Souleiman, who sprayed hair with ghd Sea Spray for Matte Waves before pulling it into a bun. To achieve the untidy tresses he describes, Souleiman palmed hair forward after securing into a bun, and left a few choice pieces hanging loose from the chignon.
