Don't call Ruffian's spring 2009 hair crimped: Hairstylist Neil Moodie was going for a decidedly "frizzy" look, complementing the haute hippie vibe of the collection via edgy waves and face-framing fuzz. Despite the carefree appearance of the kinks, however, creating them was quite complex. First, Moodie prepped dry hair with a heat-protecting moisturizing spray and rough-dried to encourage natural texture. Next, he twisted 15 to 20 small braids around the crown, starting a couple inches from the roots and leaving an inch at the ends. To add grit and volume, Moodie lavished plaits with a generous amount of Bb. Hair Powder and flat-ironed the length of them. Braids were then undone, locks were fluffed and teased at the crown, and Bb. Shine spray was misted over tresses to add sheen and movement.
