Beauty has-beens are backat least at Marc Jacobs' fall 2009 show. "The hair and makeup is quite out there," admits Guido, Redken's creative consultant, mane master for the production. "Too much gel, too much spray, too much teasingit begs the question of what is good taste?" So why recreate the overstyled dos of the '80s? "Marc was fed up with the ponytail and the knot, and he just wanted to do something crazy," says Guido.
To mimic the structured nature of Jacobs' collection, Guido "formed shapes out of the hair by scrunching it just right." Using Redken Hardware 16 Super Strong Gel, Thickening Lotion 06 Body Builder, and Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray as his main products, Guido backcombed and sculpted the strands of models so that each of the 60 hairstyles was unique.
