Derek Lam was inspired by summer vacation spots for his spring 2010 collection, and the beauty look of his show was infused with a similar dose of fun. "It's optimistic and colorful, just like the collection," makeup artist Tom Pecheux says of the rainbow eyes, noting that the wide range of hues in Lam's line allowed him to "play with a full palette of color."
Orlando Pita, meanwhile, translated the vibrancy of Lam's clothing into a curly, carefree updo. "I wanted to create the wave and glamour of Kathleen Turner's hairstyle in Body Heat, only more destroyed," says the coiffeur. "It's as if she had been on a roller coaster at an amusement parkthe curl is very deconstructed." To separate waves and make them more tempestuous, Pita sprayed hair with T3 Elevate after using a curling iron, instead of before. To finish, he pinned strands on top of the head and tousled.
