Annie Clark (St. Vincent)
Singer, songwriter, and multi-instramentalist Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) first made headlines in 2007 with her critically acclaimed debut LP Marry Me. Since then, Clark has rocked the music festival circuit, lent her indelible guitar style to the New Pornographers' latest album Together—and dazzled audiences with her mass of curls and cherry-stained lips (exemplified here at last summer's All Points West music festival).
To achieve Clark's bright summer-ready pucker, begin by exfoliating lips for an ultrasmooth application; layer a long-wearing lipstick over a stain for stay-put power. For carefree curls, amplify natural coils by applying a gel like Redken Soft Spin 05 or create them as hairstylist Teddy Charles did for the Luca Luca spring 2010 show: After blow-drying models' hair with Cutler Volumizing Spray, he crafted spirals using a small curling iron, then teased with a rattail comb starting from the ends and working toward the roots.
Beyoncé
While enjoying husband Jay-Z's performance at Coachella, Beyoncé topped off curls with a fashionable fedora and accentuated eyes with lush black lashes. To achieve the latter, minus any humidity-induced smudging, opt for waterproof mascara. Karen O
To complement her anything-goes ensembles (created by her friend, fashion designer Christian Joy), Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O wears similarly bold makeup—as evidenced by her appearance at last summer's Bonnaroo festival, shown at left. To recreate the singer's colorful, mesmerizing eyes, you'll need an electric-blue kohl eyeliner, liquid black liner, and purple glitter. Lily Allen
At last year's Glastonbury Festival in the UK, the dark-haired Allen was nearly unrecognizable in a blond wig and glitter eye makeup. For her come-hither stare, begin by applying L'Oréal Hip Color Chrome Eyeliner in Silver Lightning on the upper lid (its formula is soft and smudgy, which allows it to double as a cream eye shadow). Next, rim the eye with smooth black eyeliner ( M.A.C Powerpoint Eye Pencil is waterproof). Jessica Szohr
This Gossip Girl (seen here at All Points West in 2008) knows that a bright hippie-style headband and long locks are timeless (hello, Woodstock!). To fashion sleek, straight strands like Szohr's, skip a shampoo and use dry shampoo at the roots or flatiron hair the day of. For the perfect headscarf and/or headband, try your local vintage shop or surf the Web (we found some boho-chic options at urbanoutfitters.com and shopbop.com).
Florence Welch
Welch, frontwoman of Florence Welch and the Machine, is known for her versatile voice, quirky fashion sense—and, of course, her fiery red mane. If you covet Welch's eye-catching hair hue and aim to stand out in the music-festival crowd, consult your colorist to determine the best shade of red for your skin tone ( click here for pointers). Add silvery eye shadow, rosy blush, and coral lipstick—seen here on Welch at this year's Coachella—and you're ready to rock.
Drew Barrymore
While watching Bon Iver perform last summer at Bonnaroo, Barrymore wore a feather in her hair and smears of face paint across her cheeks and forehead. To recreate this fun-loving look, find a feather (or two or three...) at an arts-and-crafts store and pin behind your ear. Daisy Lowe
The British model took a spin behind the turntables to DJ an All Points West party last summer. Amid the evening atmosphere, Lowe shone brightly, thanks to a healthy glow. Those aiming for her dewy complexion should invest in a cream blush, liquid highlighter (to dab down the center of the nose and across cheekbones), and a tinted lip balm like Laura Mercier Hydratint SPF 15 in Rose.
Agyness Deyn
At this year's festivals, Deyn will stay supercool, thanks to a buzz cut. But at last summer's Coachella event she employed a practical yet chic bandana to keep pesky strands at bay. Want Deyn's smooth, shine-free complexion too? Use an SPF powder foundation like La Mer Treatment Powder Foundation SPF 15 and have tissues or blotting papers on hand for quick touch-ups.
Whitney Port
The budding fashion designer and MTV star has superlong, music-festival-appropriate hair. But Port proves that pinning back strands can have an equally stylish effect. To snag her do, add texture to hair with a mousse or spray to make it more pliable and easier to mold. After parting down the center, twist or braid side strands and pin in place. Gather hair at the neck into a low bun and—voila!—you're ready to brave the summer heat (and festival crowds), cool as a cucumber.
Zooey Deschanel
Deschanel is the "she" of She & Him—the indie-folk duo that performed at this year's Coachella, where Deschanel wore her signature bangs-with-long-locks do. To go the lengthy route of the actress-slash-singer without drawing your face downward, be sure to add some bounce and texture to tresses. For Deschanel's loose waves, pick pieces of hair at random and wrap them around a large-barrel curling iron or waver.
Rachel Bilson
Now, thanks to the ombré hair-color trend, brunettes like Bilson (seen here at Coachella) can have the best of both worlds—maintaining dark roots while flaunting increasingly blond pieces near the ends. Inspired by sunbathed surfers' naturally lightened strands, pro colorists at salons like Andy LeCompte (where Bilson got her locks done) and Chris McMillan (Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port recently emerged here with ombré color), are painting clients' hair in this au naturel style.
Kimberly Stewart (with Courtney Love)

According to experts, edgy bleach-blond hair is in for summer. But as the Ting Tings frontwoman demonstrates, there's no reason to put unnecessary stress on all your strands; a partial coloring job provides the ideal amount of edge while allowing healthier untouched roots to shine through. Add a breathable cotton cap and green eye glitter to the mix and you're bound to steal center stage like White did at last summer's Coachella.
Kate Hudson
The Something Borrowed star exemplifies why a high ballerina bun is such an effective-yet-stylish summer trend. While Hudson's off-the-neck chignon—spotted at Coachella—serves a purpose, its loose texture is flattering and appropriate. The best part: All it requires is a hair elastic and a few pins.
Sharin Foo
Besides her trendy platinum-blond hair color, Foo—one-half of alternative rock duo the Raveonettes (shown here at Coachella last summer)—also wears an ultrachic blunt-cut bob with bangs. Although those with fuller faces or angular features might think twice about chopping their locks to their chin like Foo did, straight-across fringe—should you dare!—can accentuate cheekbones and highlight eyes.
Janelle Monáe
Even though Monáe has been quoted as saying that no one can wear her pompadour hairstyle but her, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. At last summer's Lollapalooza festival, Monáe's classic rock `n' roll do was a welcome breath of fresh air from typical concert-hair fare. Kate Bosworth
For the effortless beauty that Bosworth radiated at this year's Coachella, hairstylist Guido Palau says her soft, matte tresses are key ("The two-day-old matte look is cooler—it's not like you're trying too hard"). To give strands just the right amount of lackluster cool, use a dry shampoo after blow-drying. Another method: Use your beach-waves styling product (see Bumble and bumble Surf Spray) in a different way. Rather than let hair air-dry after applying, blow-dry strands for a slightly matte texture. To finish, lightly scrunch hair and embrace any resulting flyaways.
VV Brown
Music festivals might be packed with hippie- and Native American–influenced styles, but there's no reason why you have to follow the crowd. For a funkier yet equally fun-loving beauty look, borrow Brown's retro-glam aesthetic. (A front hair roll paired with va-va-voom lashes and shaped gray eye shadow? Yes!)
