"It's kind of like anti-hairdressing because we're leaving the hair in its natural state," says Bob Recine, who created the untamed coifs at Jill Stuart's fall 2009. "Like the collection, the hair is individualized. Just as Jill isn't following any sort of trend, we're not straightening, waving, doing flips, or anything like that. We're simply helping the natural texture along. In order to let the clothes do the talking, we're keeping the hair less stylized."
To create the textured tresses, Recine mixed Barex Gloss Mousse Normal Hold with a dab of water in the palms of his hands and scrunched strands all over (for finer hair, he used the Strong Hold version). For extra volume, he finished with Barex Volumizzante Spray.
