"The hair was very graphic and architectural, like the collection," says Murenu, who juxtaposed a wet, sleek front section of the head with a "dry and textured" back at Givenchy. After applying mousse to dry strands, he crimped the bottom half of models' hair and smoothed the front down with a dollop of gel: "It looks really tight on the head, but the back is the release."

The 7 a.m. call time at MaxMara necessitated "easy and sporty style," says Murenu, who streamlined strands by blowing out models' hair with a round brush and adding extra gloss with a flat iron. "I flipped out the ends to enhance the movement of the hair on the runway, almost creating a triangle shape," he says.

"The girls were made up to look like statues, but the hair brought them to life," Murenu says of the billowy curls he crafted at Viktor & Rolf. He applied a mixture of mousse and serum before blow-drying and curling hair from the midlength to the ends. "The mousse combo gives volume but also has a smoothing effect, so the girls looked really polished," he says.
